Originally known as the Sullivan County Kennel Club, the MNYKC was formed in
February of 1969 by a group of dog owners from the Sullivan County NY area
interested in the sport of purebred dogs. The Monticello New York KC is a not for
profit organization committed to furthering the advancement of and protecting the
interests of all breeds of purebred dogs by public education, encouraging
sportsmanlike competition by sponsoring point shows, matches and trials and
various other community efforts.
In addition to our annual dog shows, which bring thousands of dollars to local
businesses each year, the MNYKC is proud to be able to offer a substantial annual
scholarship to a college bound area resident. The club also donates dog related
books to local public and school libraries each year and our education committee
distributes free literature to all interested dog owners as well as visiting area
schools and hospitals.
MNYKC also sponsors obedience, show handling and puppy classes which offer the
community a place to learn to train their dogs at an affordable price.
The club has among its members AKC judges, handlers, trainers, and obedience and
agility enthusiasts and is always happy to welcome anyone with a love of dogs.
